Kingdom Priorities: Living What Truly Matters

Have you ever found yourself wondering at the end of a hectic day, “Did I really spend my time on what matters most?” If you’re nodding along, you’re not alone.

In our bustling lives, it’s easy to lose sight of the priorities that align with God’s heart. Let’s dive into how we can live lives focused on what truly matters—kingdom priorities.

Identifying Our Top Priorities in Life

According to the scriptures, our top priorities should reflect God’s kingdom. Matthew 6:33 tells us,

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:33

This is a clear directive to place God at the center of our lives. But what does that look like on a Tuesday when the kids are late for school, your inbox is overflowing, and you can’t remember the last time you sat down for a quiet time?

It starts with the heart. Prioritizing prayer, worship, and reading the Word are foundational. But it also means seeking God’s wisdom in our daily decisions, loving others as Christ loves us, and using our gifts to serve those around us.

These actions aren’t just tasks to check off—they are ways of reorienting our lives so every moment is an opportunity to reflect God’s love.

Challenges to Maintaining Proper Priorities

Distractions abound—social media, endless to-do lists, even the demands of a well-meaning community can pull us away from focusing on God. Sometimes, our biggest challenge is our own desire to control our lives or the fear of missing out.

These challenges can cloud our judgment and shift our focus from eternal treasures to temporary pleasures.

How do we combat this? By continually coming back to God in prayer, asking Him to realign our hearts with His. Accountability helps, too. Sharing your goals with a spiritual mentor or a prayer partner can keep you on track when worldly pressures mount.

Setting Right Priorities

Setting right priorities means living intentionally. Start by evaluating your current commitments. What aligns with God’s calling on your life? What doesn’t? It might mean saying no to good things to say yes to better ones that fulfill kingdom purposes.

Create a practical daily plan that weaves your spiritual disciplines into the fabric of your everyday life. Perhaps it’s as simple as playing worship music during your morning routine or praying while you do the dishes.

Look for ways to incorporate God’s Word throughout your day, like setting scripture verses as reminders on your phone.

Wrapping Up

Living with kingdom priorities isn’t about adding more to your plate; it’s about aligning your plate with God’s plan. It’s choosing to fill your day with what nurtures your soul and advances His kingdom.

So tonight, when you reflect on your day, you won’t wonder if you lived on purpose—you’ll know you did, and you’ll have the peace and joy that come from living in accordance with God’s Word.

Remember, dear sisters, every day is a new chance to live for what lasts. Let’s embrace these opportunities, holding fast to the truth that what we do today echoes in eternity.
